5th Mobility in Portugal

From 24 to 28 of October 2021 AEFH promoted Learning, Teaching and Training activities related to

“Let´s Improve with STEAM” project. During the week STEAM activities, specifically related to ART,

were promoted presenting also to all participants the Portuguese and AEFH school culture.

On the first day during the morning all participants participated in the APP(Y)PAPER “AEFH Guimarães” and had the opportunity to discover and understand the values of culture, in particularGuimarães cultural and historical places accompanied by traditional dance, music and food.

They tried a lot of typical food; Torta de Guimarães as a snack and Francesinha for lunch. In the afternoon, all participants travelled to Penha Mountain by cable car where they made a Tresor Hunt “Art in the Mountain” and it was a lot of fun!

They got to see a traditional dance (rancho folclórico) in the city center and danced along. They visited Alberto Sampaio Museum where they listened to a music sang by AEFH Music students and Paço dos Duques de Bragança and the Castle of Guimarães where they saw a medieval dance performed by AEFH teachers.

Monday- 25th October

In the morning participants checked- in at Francisco de Holanda School and after a welcoming and musical moment, Portuguese students guided the groups though the “Update your passport” school tour.

Afterwards, there was a Portuguese lesson where they learned how to introduce themselves and some hard words to pronounce in the ice-breaker activity: “Learn a New Language”.

During the afternoon, participants visited “Ciência Viva” Center where they had the opportunity to do experiments and workshops about ARTS and SCIENCES.

Tuesday- 26th October

On this day participants travelled to Porto.

In the morning, attended a workshop about ARTS AND MATHS. After that, they started the activity “ARTS AND CULTURE”, visited Clérigos Tower and saw Porto landscape.

During the afternoon they attended the exhibitions about Immersive ART- ART AND TECHNOLOGY.

Before returning to Guimarães, there was a small trip stop to see the ocean and the students enjoyed this very much.

Wednesday- 27th October

During the morning, the students presented some works about the ART IN YOUR COUNTRY. It was interesting and we got to know a lot about each other’s cultures.

After that, participants made tote bags that had Guimarães’ imagery in the workshop “You are an ARTIST”. Students also played a basketball game in the school’s gym- activity that they loved.

In the afternoon, participants walked to the “Laboratório da Paisagem” and attended the workshop: ART and ENVIRONMENT where they learned the importance of recycling. They created artistic recycled piece of art and made a memorial of this trip out of a CD.

Thursday- 28th October

In the morning, participants visited the STEAM FAIR with the exhibition of products created related to the topic. Then they went to Minho for the activity ARTS and ENGINEERING where they had a programming introduction, worked with leds and learned how to turn them on and off.

During the afternoon, they visited the City Hall and were welcomed by the vice president of Guimarães municipality.

In the evening, participants had the farewell dinner- STEAM EVENT- showed traditional dances of their country and, at the end got the participation certificates.

This was a wonderful week!
